The STaRs shine bright in Texas
If you have picked up the latest edition of Austin County Insider magazine, on page 7, my Editor’s letter talks about taking care of yourself. Take the time to relax and enjoy friendships.
In my letter, I promised to tell you what STaRs stood for. Back in 2014 when I began at The Sealy News, I really didn’t know anyone. New community, new relationships to build and new friendships to start.
If you know me, you know that I value my happy hour time with girlfriends, and by the way, the hubby is totally ok with it. It makes me a nicer person. With that being said, I set out to find girlfriends to hang out with. Sheryl Moore, incoming Sealy ISD Superintendent, was one of those first friendships. We came into the Sealy area at the same time. We began to know the community together.
I wanted to expand on our friendship group, so with a couple other new friends, we started a monthly girl’s happy hour. It needed a name, or maybe just a theme. We chose STaRs. STaRs stand for Strong, Tenacious and Resilient. It has been a while since we conducted those monthly get togethers. I think it is time to start it back up. Who’s ready?
Thank you to the beautiful women in my life who are timeless, devoted, caring, kind, thoughtful, goofy, faithful, steadfast, headstrong, hardworking, honest, compassionate, ethical, courageous, inspirational, dignified, responsible, confident, steadfast, optimistic, ambitious, encouraging, respected, forgiving, fearless and downright fun. You are all family and I would not be the person I am today without you. Thank you for being my friend.
