27TH ANNUAL ATTWATER’S PRAIRIE CHICKEN BOOMIN’ AND BLOOMIN’ FESTIVAL April 4, 5, & 6 Festival
The Annual Attwater’s Prairie Chicken Boomin’ and Bloomin’ Festival is a weekend-long vibrant celebration dedicated to the conservation efforts of the endangered Attwater’s prairie chicken, a remarkable bird native to Texas’s coastal prairies. This year’s festival is extra special. On April 4, the refuge will celebrate the new facility’s grand opening with a ribbon-cutting.
The rest of the weekend will be devoted to the Prairie Chicken “booming” or their springtime mating dance. The festival offers a delightful blend of education and entertainment for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Visitors can enjoy guided tours to witness the prairie chickens in their natural habitat, participate in educational activities about wildlife and prairie conservation and engage with local artisans showcasing environmentally themed crafts.
