Hello Friends,
This marks the sixth issue of me as your editor for Austin County Insider magazine. Where has the last year and a half gone? Heck, I can’t believe it’s 2025. Okay, now I am sounding old. But I digress. This one is a keeper because it’s packed with great stories, photos and things to do.
In this issue, we explore celebrating free and low-cost Spring Break staycation ideas, local kids camps and getaways throughout Texas. As always, our Things To Do section, good from January through March, features a thoughtful collection of events to keep you entertained and busy until our next issue comes out.
We are very proud to highlight the amazing joy created at The Brookwood Community for persons with disabilities - not to mention it is a beautiful place to eat, shop and tour.
Landowners with acreage will want to read the story on tax exemptions available for protecting and preserving our Austin County wildlife habitat. Two of my favorite stories identify the stages of life for common local butterflies and moths and the other is about local fun bingo venues doing good in our community. I recently celebrated my birthday with a bingo bash and we all had a blast!
Austin County has become a special place to me, because of you. Please send me an email with suggestions and story ideas.
Happy New Year!
